Iowa Finance Authority
Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) & Shelter Assistance Fund (SAF)
This is a federal program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development designed to assist people to quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.
Allows certified Local Housing Trust Funds to efficiently fulfill unique local affordable housing needs throughout the state.
HOME Tenant Base Rental Assistance (TBRA)
Allows nonprofit and local government entities to assist many Iowa families to afford their rental home, with a little help.
U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development
HUD awards discretionary funding through over 20 Grant programs that support HUD initiatives.
Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDs (HOPWA)
Federal program dedicated to the housing needs for people living with HIV/AIDs. HUD makes grants to local communities, states, and nonprofit organizations for these projects.
VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH)
Collaborative program between HUD and VA combining HUD housing vouchers with VA supportive services for Veterans who are homeless and their families for finding and sustaining permanent housing.
Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP)
Initiative designed to reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness.
Iowa Economic Development

Provides a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, essential support services, and medications for low-income people living with HIV who are uninsured and underserved.
Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA)
Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP)
Program was created to help meet the needs of hungry and homeless people throughout the United States and its territories by allocating federal funds for the provision of food and shelter.
Veteran’s Affairs (VA)
Offered annually (as funding permits) by the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Programs to fund community agencies providing services to homeless Veterans.
Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)
Established to rapidly re-house homeless Veteran families and prevent homelessness for those at imminent risk due to a housing crisis.
